L'école secondaire publique de Cornwall a obtenu le 4 octobre dernier le prix de la première ministre pour les écoles tolérantes en Ontario.
To honour their francophone heritage local schools and francophone clubs will be celebrating on Friday, Sept. 23.

Students from Ecole Secodaire L’Heritage, Ecole Secondaire La Citadelle and Ecole Rose des Vents will be marching to the Cornwall Justice Building where they, along with dignitaries, and members of the general public will raise the francophone flag to commemorate the day of festivities.

“It’s the day we celebrate the flag of the Franco-Ontariens,” said L’Heritage principal Eric Genier. “It’s in conjunction with French Week as well.”
It's a great opportunity for kids to experience French culture.

The Conseil des ecoles publiques de l'Est de l'Ontario has been offering local anglophone students the opportunity to immerse themselves in French language and culture through their Camp d'immersion culturelle at ecole l'Heritage this July.

"We started last year as a pilot project in two of our schools," said camp organizer Katia Dupond. "We held a camp in one of our schools in Ottawa and one in Trenton."

Dupond said she wanted to expand the project to include more regional areas and made the decision to include Cornwall
The province is recognizing Cornwall's Ecole secondaire publique L'Heritage as one of 10 schools that foster safe and inclusive spaces.

"It's a very big honour, but I'm not surprised (because) of the staff that we have here," said L'Heritage principal Eric Genier. "We sincerely feel we've created an environment where our students feel good about coming to school."

The Premier's Awards for Accepting Schools are given out annually to recognize teams of students, educators and parents for creativity and leadership in creating positive school environments, and supporting student achievement
CORNWALL, Ontario - Two projects from area high school students won bronze medals at the Canada Wide Science Festival in Montreal.
